This assignment is predicated on you selecting course ideas and concepts and actively and purposefully applying them during the term. This eight-to-10-page paper is intended for you to express, in an organized and coherent fashion, what you have learned throughout this course and how certain aspects of the course have precisely applied to you, to your work, and to your working relationships. You should demonstrate that you really worked with and applied ideas from our course and our material. You may refer to your previous assignments and make a point to talk to others in class and at work for insight. Your paper will contain six sections: Introduction, Reflection, Current Assessment, Developmental Plan, Conclusion, and Bibliography. Some questions you may consider in the Reflection, Current Assessment, and Developmental Planning sections include, but are not limited to, the following (and in no particular order):

1. Reflection Which readings had a particular impact on you and why? Discuss any experiments or behavioral changes you have tried at work or in other situations. What were the outcomes? Were they effective? Why or why not? What have you learned about yourself? Anything surprising? Have you gained an interest or appreciation for concepts or ideas that you may not have hadbefore? 2. Current Assessment Which of your skills and abilities are you currently happy with and which ones might you attempt to change? Why would you attempt to change them? What are your strengths as a team member, a manager, and a leader? Do not be modest. What are your challenges as a team member, a manager, and a leader? On what should you improve? Do not be easy on yourself. Do you feel you are good at helping others achieve goals? Why or why not? How might you change in order to become a better-performing professional and to lead a happy life? 3. Your Developmental Plan Where do you see yourself in five years’ time? Ten years’ time?

What are your goals for yourself personally? Professionally? Consider whether your goals are SMART: specific, measurable, attainable, results-based, and timely/time-limited. What are some of your most critical goals? Why is fulfilling these goals important to you? How might you change some of your behaviors in order to achieve your goals? A hugely useful suggestion to facilitate completing this paper: Rather than relying on memory of the previous three months, maintain audio-recorded or written personal notes—a journal of sorts—to capture events and situations as they occur. The ECI-U Questionnaire and Workbook is excellent for this purpose! More importantly, your feelings and thoughts will be fresh. Also, as you review the notes later, you might find that your feelings and thoughts have changed a bit as some time has passed.
