I chose to read it because I am interested in knowing the facts about the wars, and this is nonfiction novel and is based upon a marine. Most of the novel takes place in the training center for newly recruit marines. Ryan Smithson decides to be a part of the U.S marine when he was in the high school; after 9/11. He feels for his people, his nation and the whole universe. His goal is to serve the U.S marine as a reserve, a military personal who takes place of a marine who has been deported to a nation for war. The protagonist of the story is Ryan himself, a nineteen year teenager trying to be a U.S marine. The antagonist of the story is the difficulties he has to face to successfully be a U.S marine. I think the story revolves round Ryan.

My favorite thing about the book is that how it shows the spirit of a teenager wanting to serve his nation. This provides the reader the same spirit and encouragement to fight with the obstacles that might come in the near future; to fulfill their aim in life. I would definitely refer this book to teenagers and those who are interested in the things going around Iraq because this novel also specializes on the war going on Iraq.
