We begin our assembly with the sign of the cross. In the name of the father… The theme reminds us that Jesus’ light shines upon us and we must radiate light and love to the people around us so it can lead us to the path to God. On the Epiphany, the arrival of the Magi highlights the beginning of Jesus’ mission to guide us to God in Heaven. God Moves in a Mysterious Way by William Cowper
God moves in a mysterious way, his wonders to perform;
He plants his footsteps in the sea, and rides upon the storm. Deep in unfathomable mines of never failing skill, He treasures up his bright designs, and works his sovereign will. You fearful saints, fresh courage take, the clouds you so much dread Are big with mercy, and shall break in blessings on your head. Judge not the LORD by feeble sense, but trust him for his grace; Behind a frowning providence, he hides a smiling face.
John 1:5 – “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has never put it out.” Isaiah 9:2 – “The people who walked in darkness, have seen a great light. They lived in a land of shadows, but now light is shining on them.” “Happiness can be found in the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the light” – Albus Dumbledore Please bow your head and makes this prayer your own
O God, who by a star guided the wise men to the worship of your Son We pray you to lead to yourself, the wise and great of every land That unto you every knee may bow, and every thought be brought into captivity We make this prayer through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
We end our assembly with the sign of the cross. In the name of the father… War veteran Bernard Jordan who broke out of his care home in Hove, East Sussex, to attend the 70th anniversary D-Day commemorations in Normandy, France, has died aged 90. The former Royal Navy officer sparked a nationwide manhunt last June after fleeing his care home and secretly travelling across the channel, with his medals hidden underneath his coat.
