This astonishing figure is more than people dying from illegal substances, drunk driving and car accidents. The cause and effect of smoking are not unknown facts. Most smokers are even aware of this cruel fact. Then why is it that they still continue smoking? What causes smokers to even indulge in the habit knowing the deadly consequences? There is not one specified reason for people to smoke. There are actually many reasons which act as a cause of smoking, according to scientists. A few people take up the habit because they saw someone they admired like smoking and thought it was a cool thing to do. Another reason for some people may smoke is experimenting with friends. Here are a few most common causes of smoking: * Ignorance about all the risks and disadvantages of smoking cigarettes. * A total lack of discouragement against smoking.

* Growing up in an environment or house where people regularly smoke. * Feelings of fatigue and stress. The active stimulant in tobacco, nicotine certainly makes one feel relaxed. Although, they become addicted to it. * One of the most common causes is peer pressure. This is why teenagers start smoking. * Wanting to gain attention

Smoking leads to various diseases like asthma, insomnia, heart murmurs, emphysema, strokes, heart disease and lung cancer among a wide variety of diseases and conditions. Lung cancer causes nearly 27% of deaths in smokers alone. This form of cancer may appear as soon as one starts smoking. It takes many years for lung cancer to manifest. It is considered as a number one killer in smokers. Also, heart disease leads to 24% of deaths from smoking. The cause and effect of smoking are now being thoroughly investigated by scientists to know more about the smoking related diseases. Negative:

* Smoking is risky: Smoking significantly raises the risk of developing a variety of cancers. Smoking causes many other types of cancer, including cancers of the throat, mouth, nasal cavity, esophagus, stomach, pancreas, kidney, bladder, and cervix, and acute myeloid leukemia. * You can even get amputated: Smoking can cause strokes and heart attack. It slows your blood flow, cutting off oxygen to your feet and hands. Some smokers end up having their limbs amputated. * Your looks will go: You will start to look ugly with wrinkled skin, bad breath and stained teeth. So for the sake of your attractiveness, quit smoking forever starting now. * Waste of good money: You will realize that paying for cigarettes is like pouring money down a black hole because these cancer sticks cost a bomb. So basically you are burning a hole in your pocket to get disease and disability in return * Bad for breathing: Your respiratory system can get irreversibly damaged and you may spend the rest of life wheezing and coughing badly. Besides, secondhand smoke is bad for nonsmokers too, especially asthmatics. Positive:
