It wasn’t used in a particular type of music. Listen to the sound clip for each instrument. Which instrument’s sound do you like the best? Why? How would you describe the sound? (For example, it is a warm or cool tone? What color does the sound remind you of? Does the instrument sound like anything in nature or another instrument? Etc.) There are many similarities and differences about the instruments from the Middle Ages/Renaissance times and what is used today. Recorders and harps are still used today but not very common. Today we mostly see drums, guitars of many types, pianos, and violins. In the Middle Ages and Renaissance times, instruments made from animal body parts are very popular. We don’t see those instruments very much anymore. They are like the flute and other instruments though.
