Introduction

In Paul’s letter to the Romans, he addresses some important aspects of Christian life. How we should view the natural world, human identity, human relationships, and culture. Paul touches on many subjects from God’s wrath against mankind, which serves as a warning concerning turning away from the Lord, to out attaining peace and life through the blood of Christ. Through these letters we see the state of man, and find that the solution is not to simply be a better person, but to submit to the will of God, and accept the blood of Jesus in faith, knowing that it is by faith that we are saved.

The Natural World

As we all know the natural world was formed by God, who is the Creator, through His words. We know this because the Bible is a testimony of God and not just a book written by humans. In (Romans 1:20) Paul writes, “For since the creation of the world Go’s invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” This scripture teaches that God is the creator and He has shown himself through the creation. God has made everything from the beginning and He is the only one who created everything in this world today. God created everything and there is no excuse that people should have when they stand in front of Him during judgement day because everything in this world is because of Him; therefore He wants to be acknowledge and praised because He is the reason that we are here.

Human Identity

Our human identity is found in knowing God and knowing our true nature. Mankind is the creation of God. It was not until God had created everything else in the world until he then created man. We are made in God’s image (Genesis 1:27). In (Romans 8:14-15) Paul writes “For all who are led by the Spirt of God are sons of God. For you did not received the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirt of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” These scriptures teaches that God is our main Father and He has adopted all of us and it is everyone’s choice if they want to have God as their Father in Christ. These scriptures states that the human identity came from God and he is our Father and through Him is our main identity.

Human Relationships

Human relationships are very confusing and are the hardest part of life to handle. In (Romans 1:24) Paul writes, “Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.” These scriptures teaches that God intended for us to have healthy sexual relations but instead humans are lusting after each other in unnatural ways. Humans have also turned to violence and humans today are so consumed with worldly things that humans are doing whatever it takes to make themselves happy but happiness is through God and not the worldly possessions. This falls into the category of idolizing worldly possessions and not God. As we all know God is a jealous God and he does not want anything put before Him.

Culture

In the book of Romans we see that the culture of the society had completely broken down. In Romans (1:26-32) Paul writes, “For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; 27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.” These scriptures teaches us that if we do not follow in God’s path and keep rejecting Him than He will remove His hands from us and we will no longer be protected and we do not want that in life.

Conclusion

Paul’s letters are very informative for all of us today to live by. Romans is a book that is important to us and it gives us a layout of how we need to live by God’s rule and what will happen if we do not live by them. Looking at the world today, this world has become very bad and there are so many sinful things that go on every day in life and I do not think that God is pleased with the way of the world today. I know that living right by God will get you very far in life and it will get you into the Gates of Heaven and that is one place I want to be at when I live this Earth.
