Citizenship and the Responsibilities of Citizens

Citizenship is the relationship between an individual and a state in which an individual owes commitment to that state and in turn is entitled to its protection. Citizenship implies the status of freedom with accompanying responsibilities. Citizens have certain rights, duties, and responsibilities that are denied or only partially extended to aliens and other noncitizens living in a country. Now I will go into detail on responsibilities, rights, and duties of a U.S. citizen.

The usual responsibilities of citizenship are allegiance, taxation, and military service. Citizenship is the most privileged form of nationality. This broader term signifies various relations between an individual and a state that do not necessarily confer political rights but do imply other privileges, particularly protection abroad. It is the term used in international law to signify all persons whom a state is entitled to protect. Nationality also serves to denote the relationship to a state of entities other than individuals. Corporations, ships, and aircraft, for example, acquire a nationality.

The usual rights of being a citizen of the U.S. is be able to vote for an elected official. Being able to is very important in a citizen because you and everyone else elects who we want to represent our interests and issues locally as well as nationally in the U.S. Some other rights we have are being able to hold public office, being able to live and do anything that involves U.S. citizens in such ways. With these rights enables you more freedom and lets you be more of a person who has a part to help out our nation in ways such as keeping it under control and keeping it clean.

The usual duties a citizen has are quite a lot. Some of the duties are being able to watch your actions so you stay safe and do not put anyone else’s life at risk.
