4. The colorless acetone was added and grind together.

5. Then, the solution produce was transfer into centrifuge tube and after the process using the centrifuge was done, the layer between supernatant and the precipitate which both are very concentrated purple color.

6. The solution went through a few time process of dilution to make it bit more diluted.

1. To find standard deviation of the mean absorbance of light = (x-xËË)2n-1

x=class value

xË=mean of absorbance of wavelength of light

n=no oftrials

Standard deviation of mean absorbance of light of 440nm wavelength of spinach leaves

= (0.65-0.57)2+(0.65-0.57)2+(0.65-0.57)23-1

= 0.83

1. Percentage average absorbance of wavelength of light (%):

= average absorbance of wavelength x 100%

Total average relative absorbance of wavelength

Example: To find percentage average of absorbance of wavelength 440nm of spinach leaves

1. Photosynthesis is the process of plants producing their own food by chemical reactions using raw materials with the help of sunlight that being absorbed by the clhorophyll in the chloroplast.

1. The sunlight gives the energy for plant to undergo the photosynthesis process. Light travels in rhythmic waves have characteristics wavelength.

1. The various pigments of photosynthesis absorb certain and specific wavelength from the photon of light.

1. The range of wavelength of light is stated as below:

1. 400-525 = violet-blue

2. 525-625 = green-yellow

3. 625-700 = orange-red

1. Since sunlight provides the energy that will be used for photosynthesis, the sunlight can be said to be a factor of the rate of photosynthesis. The amounts of energy of light depend on the amount of light absorbed by the chloroplast. Certain pigments only absorb certain wavelength of light.

1. From the graph, the mustard leaves absorb the colour with wavelength of 440nm the most and the colour with wavelength of 580nm the least. The spinach leaves absorb the colour with wavelength 440nm the most and the colour with wavelength of 680nm the least.

1. In most of wavelength range, spinach leaves absorb the colour more than the mustard leaves except at ranges of 585nm and above, and range 480 and below.

1. When the percentage of average absorbance of light is high, it indicates that the absorption of the colour by pigment is high. It also shows that the pigment needs the colour more than the colour that the absorption is low.

1. The low absorption of certain colour is happened because the pigment already has the colour in it.

1. When extracting the supernatant after centrifugation process is done, some of the sediment in the bottom layer is accidently taken too.

Avoided by using syringe to make sure no sediment will be taken in the supernatant.

1. Parallax error happens when taking the acetone using a measuring cylinder.

The position of eyes must be perpendicular to the reading. The uses of white paper to be placed behind the measuring cylinder also will increase the accuracy of the reading.

1. The extract is exposed to the light for a short period of time before it was wrapped by aluminum foil.

The experiment should be conducted in the dark room where there is no sunlight at all. Besides, after the extract is obtained, the centrifuged fuse should be directly wrapped by aluminum foil.

1. The freshness of the leaves is not the same.

The leaves are picked up from the tree exactly before the experiment want to be conducted by the students.
