To establish and maintain a safe, healthy, learning environment To establish and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment is to know my responsibility as a child care worker. I need to maintain the up keep in my classroom by always knowing what my students are doing and that they are safe. I check to make sure my classroom and the outside play area is safe and secure. When I check the classroom I look to make sure it is clean and free from trash. The equipment is checked for good working condition, no sharp objects, and all electrical outlets are covered or out of reach of children. The restrooms are checked for cleanliness and it is made sure to be well stocked. Fire drills are practiced once a month so that the children can be well prepared. In order to keep a healthy learning environment I make sure each children in my care washes his/her hands when entering the center, after a trip to the restroom, before and after eating, after sneezing or coughing, and before and after water play. I also teach the children to sneeze or cough in their sleeves.

Gloves are used to help prevent the spread of germs. All noses are checked often in clean if necessary. Toys are disaffected with a three system step. First step clean with soapy water, second step rinse in warm water and third step is to sanitize for at least five minutes. The menu that I included in the Resource Collection (RC 1-2) shows a variety of nutritional needs. The menu has a well-balanced meal plan that includes a fruit and vegetable every lunch and a nutritional morning and afternoon snack. The food items are limited to sugars and salts. Morning snack and lunch include 2% milk and afternoon snack includes 100% juice; water is also an option. My study is in the Bridge Kindergarten room. I believe all children learn by play and hands on.

The classroom is all age-appropriate, organized, and inviting for all 4 year olds. The room design is all set up so all the children know where each center is located and all the shelves are labeled so the children know where to put the toys after they are done using them. Each child has their own cubby with his or her name and date of birth. The cubbies are used for the children so they can store extra clothes in them or other things they might need throughout the day. The weekly plan I Included in my Resource Collection (RC 1-3) reflects the learning activities that each child will be learning throughout the week.
