What are the causes of discrimination?
Discrimination is caused by a number of reasons, one of which is learned behavior. If you grew up seeing discrimination practiced by your parents, you will probably folllow the same mind-set.

(4)Discrimination in the workplace because of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age or other factors persists despite laws and policies designed to prevent it. In some cases, employers or coworkers might consciously choose to discriminate, but discrimination can also be caused by unconscious biases or even by company policies intended to apply equally to all workers.

How is discrimination faced by one identity group (race, ethnicity, religious beliefs, gender, sexual orientation, age, or disability) the same as discrimination faced by another? How are they different? When applying for a job your sex, ethnicity or race all can be discriminated upon without the individual even knowing. They can be overlooked for a person that is white, or maybe male. Women are sometimes paid less than a man in the same job. When you live within a certain economic means you are treated differently. A man, homosexual, Jewish, or African American may be offered a job over a woman because of gender.
