Celebrities are constantly in the media for their outrageous or strange antics. People such as Robbie Williams, The Cheeky Girls and most Big Brother contestants are well known for their headline grabbing shenanigans. But some stars complain that they do not get the privacy they deserve.

Nowadays it doesn’t take a lot to be known as a ‘celeb’. Movies stars, singers, politicians, TV presenters, sports men and women and even royalty have all gained celeb status. Also, with reality TV shows such as Big Brother, The Salon and Pop Idol many young hopefuls are catapulted into ‘Celebsville’. All of these people seem to have taken over the headlines, for good or for bad reasons. Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas recently sued a well-known magazine because they took and published photographs of the couple without their permission. But if you’re going to have a highly publicized wedding, aren’t people going to want to take photos? This is the main argument that people have against celebrities; that they partake in high profile activities, and then complain when photographs are taken. There are also well-known ‘celeb hangouts’ such as The Ivy, Met Bar and Chinawhite.

On the other hand, celebrities are people as well and surely they deserve the privacy that everybody else receives. They are merely doing something that they love doing and they should not receive so much prejudice for it. Some would say that it us who give celebrities so much hype. Whenever celebrities complain about lack of privacy, the general public complains. Is this really fair? Surely, if these clubs are going to aim their marketing at celebrities then celebrities are going to go there. If you could afford to, wouldn’t you? Privacy is actually one of our human rights. Is it not unfair to deny people, who have made something of themselves, their right as a person?

Some celebrities like crave publicity, whereas others prefer their privacy. Just like, some people like o be the center of attention while some people are shy and prefer not to be noticed.
