Family Values Essay Sample
Hannah Montana is a sitcom that shows a Teenage superstar with down-to-earth Family Values. Hannah Montana, the television series, demonstrates the complications of attempting to maintain established family values, while being a teenage girl who has become famous and wealthy. Miley Stewart, also known as Hannah Montana, is repetitively attempting to balance her Tennessee, down-to-earth family values with the temptations of financial and celebrity success and how that reproduces greed. In the sense of a worldview, Hanna Montana mirrors a similar worldview to my own, by making an attempt never to hurt others and striving to replicate a solid awareness of right and wrong. In the sitcom, the characters of the family are made up of a nontraditional situation. It is made up of Hannah Montana’s single father, two best friends and her goofy brother. Although Hannah Montana may be thought as a low budget series founded on a spoiled teenage girl with a lot of fame, at the end of each show, Miley always comes back to her solid family values of doing what is right. After viewing several shows, I have come to the conclusion that Hannah Montana has a positive influence in regards to a down-to-earth set of family values.
It is important to illustrate typical teenage struggles in a television series, so that our youth can relate to that actor. This series shows the character as a ethical person that suggest the best values that our nation can have. In the show, Hannah Montana, she is a young teenager who happens to be a celebratory. Her fame and money are constantly a challenge her ethical foundation with materialism, that her grounded father is always guiding her to do the right thing even if she does not see why she should do them at first. In todays culture, the perception of family and family values have turned out to be someone’s personal choice and not the typical choice to follow It is inspirational for a television show to echo my personal explanation of a family and some of the concepts of good family values. Because Miley mother is not in the show she relays on her father. The family includes blood family as well as close friends. I was a single mother, raising a daughter and regularly refer to my close friends as my family. The characters are ranchers from Tennessee. This setting gives us a feeling of a down-to-earth, Christen based values that are being questioned frequently because of the Hollywood lifestyle.
Miley’s father is continually giving her advice and guidance to be true to her moral core values, in spite of where they live and who they are. In this way, Hannah Montana is a positive inspiration for our young people to watch and mimic. American culture includes an abundance of resources, and television is one resource that influences adolescents about their beliefs on reality, and Cosgrove (2006) explains that one definition of a worldview is a set of assumptions regarding how individuals understand reality (p. 19). Hannah Montana has the control to influence the worldview of our youth. It is a decent and feel-good show that can influence us in a positive way. In one episode, Miley’s father caught her lying to him, and he showed disappointment throughout the entire show. At the end her father conveyed their values by telling her that she needed to trust herself as much as he trusted her.
These are some of the same things I have instilled in my own children. If they were dishonest with me, it was important to speak reasonable and morally to them, in order to influence them in a positive way. Media is a powerful way to inspire young people in the way of reflecting our nation’s worldview, and the television series, Hannah Montana influences adolescents in a positive way. This positive influence includes the representation of the main characters struggles with juggling fame and materialism with old fashion family values that were founded before becoming famous. Her unconventional family draws her out of being materialistic, which includes her trusted Father, brother and close friends. The show echoes many of my personal values, allowing me to feel positive about my personal worldviews of not wanting to hurt others feelings and trying do the right thing all the time.
