Introduction of TOPIC

Every year our President is performing a SONA to inform the Filipino people about the improvements and their projects for our country. It is important to have a SONA because it is used to be the summary of his deeds in the Philippines. On the fourth SONA of President Noynoy Aquino III, he laid out his plans and achievements for our country. The plan of PNoy for our country benefits the Filipino people. He also solved the past problems of the Philippines. The SONA 2013 lasted for 1 hour and 40 minutes, and was considered his longest address since he was elected to post in 2010. Here are a few important things that the president stressed out in his speech. Tamang daan na tinatahak, the president said that the result of the last election where 9 out of 12 of the candidates he endorsed, which he referred to as mga “kasangga” occupied the highest 9 seats in the senate, a testament that his bosses (Filipinos) agree with his “tuwid na daan”. He also states his accomplishments for the past three years of his administration. TESDA-DOLE scholarship; a total of 503,521 students have received the scholarship. An estimated six out of 10 scholars land a job.

His plan on Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program increase in the number beneficiaries from 2010-present. The Philippines is now considered as the “rising tiger” by the World Bank and the “brightest spark” by the Institute of Chartered Account in England and Wales.

PNoy states that there are issues that he thinks need to be done, Like SSS Pension Scheme Modification and Fare hike in MRT and LRT decrease the subsidized fare and allot it to other government services. There are some issues PNoy also discussed. The Wilfredo Panogalinga and the recent Ricky Cadavero shooting case were also tackled by the president. He said that a thorough investigation is already underway for both cases, similar to the one done for the Atimonan rubout case. Despite on this issues that stain the reputation of the police and military forces, the president still believes for the goodness of the armed forces. He elaborated some instances where police officers showed exemplary works – on- and off-duty. Several other issues were also tackled. These were just few points that we think are important in his speech. These plans and achievements of PNoy must be supported and appreciated by the Filipinos. These can help the Philippines to improve and it may be the step for changing our country. We Filipinos must respect and obey our president plans for the Philippines. There are sayings that if you want a change don’t wait for others that will do it for you. All change starts with you.
