Huckleberry Finn has always been a highly regarded and respected book. The movie, well, not so much. The movie, released in 1974, received a 5.2 out of 10. The movie was not liked much by the public, most likely from the bad acting and how far the movie drives off from the book. If the movie “Huckleberry Finn” were to be remade the actors would need to be Chandler Riggs as Huck, Djimon Hounsou as Jim, Earl Hindman as Pap, Sarah Wayne Callies as Judith Loftus, Emily Kinney as Emmeline Grangerford, Scott Wilson as the King, and last but not least Kevin Kline as the Duke.

Chandler Riggs would be the best choice in this movie to play as Huck for several reasons. Chandler is around the same age as Huck and is an amazing actor. Chandler plays as an adventurous child in the show “The Walking Dead”, this shows that Chandler has experience in the field as an adventurer. Chandler is also trained in using a southern accent. “Quick, Jim, it ain’t no time for fooling around and moaning; there’s a gang of murderers in yonder, and if we don’t hunt up their boat and set her drifting down the river so these fellows can’t get away from the wreck, there’s one of ’em going to be in a bad fix. But if we find their boat we can put all of ’em in a bad fix – for the Sheriff ‘ll get ’em.'” Huck says this showing that he doesn’t stand for evil and he just wants to help, much like Chandler in “The Walking Dead”. Djimon Hounsou would also be a great cast choice in this movie as Jim. Djimon would play great as Jim for reasons such as, looks, experience, determination, and the origin of the both of them are similar. Djimon was born in Africa but then moved to France and dropped out of school, but then learned English by watching television. Due to this Djimon is literate and intelligent but sometimes slurs his words. Djimon looks very similar to the drawings of Jim that have been made over many years. Djimon was in the movie “Blood Diamond”.

Earl Hindman would be perfect for the part of Pap in Huckleberry Finn, due to his low voice and his ability to change between roles very quickly. Whenever Pap isn’t drinking, he is nicer to everybody he’s around, although he can still be mean. Times like that come scarcely, Pap is an old abusive drunk, that seems to never be around his son. Earl would be a perfect enemy of Huck in this movie because Earl is tall and he is also slightly intimidating.

Sarah Wayne Callies would be perfect for the part of Mrs. Loftus because Sarah is always willing to prove people wrong or make a puzzle out of everything she does. In the show “The Walking Dead” Sarah plays the part of a mother and wife during a zombie apocalypse (a.k.a Lori Grimes). Whenever Mrs. Loftus thinks something is wrong she makes a huge investigation about it. Such as when she believes Huck, dressed as a woman, is actually a male she does her best to reassure herself of the assumption. Such as the way Huck catches things that fall in between his legs, and the way he throws. Sarah does similar actions throughout all two-and-a-half seasons of “The Walking Dead” she was in. Emily Kinney would be a great position for Emmiline Grangerford. This is true because of the ages of the two and how misunderstood they are. Emily is always misunderstood and is always different from everybody else. Although Emily doesn’t right poems of dead people she doesn’t even know she is still very similar.

Scott Wilson would be great to play the part as “The King” for the following reasons. Scott Wilson is a highly regarded actor and is always trying to charge in all movies/shows he is in. “The King” is the oldest of the group between him and “The Duke” and thinks of himself as the leader. “The King” is also a bad guy such as when “The Duke” robs five dollars and “The King” robs eighty dollars. “The Duke” would most likely be played by Kevin Kline. The two look very similar, they are both tall and skinny. The two also are relatively nice, but also love tricking people.
