List of School Policies Essay Sample

This assignment deals with displays in the school. It will first describe the school’s policy for displays

1.1 Describe the school policy for displays In my work placement the guidelines and procedures for putting together displays were given verbally since there isn\’t any written policy about the school displays. In verbal discussion it was explained that displays in school are the first impressions to parents, visitors, children and stuff. Therefore, school aims to provide a high standard of displays that demonstrates the activities performed within the school at different levels and different aspects.

In my settings displays are wall mounted at school hall, corridors, to share the success and learning through work, to celebrate the children\’s achievements. Moreover, teachers are responsible and required to put displays into classrooms for different purposes but there is not specific ways on how, what and where to put them up.
Equally, when putting together a display, there were a number of school procedures to follow; such as:

• Display must not obstruct fire exit sign and doorways
• Should not cover any warning signs
• Should not cover light switches
• Chairs and tables should not be used when putting a display
• Displays should be regularly updated

1.2 Describe the importance and purposes of displays in school

Burnham, L.,and Baker, B., (2010), defined displays as \”the arrangement of material ( graphic, text and objects) into an assembly specifically intended to attract people\’s attention and interest, or to provide information, or to educate, or a combination of all\”. There are a number of different reasons as to why displays are used in Assessment 1
