Number of People Aged 60 and Above Placed in Old Folks Homes from the Year 2006 to 2010 Essay Sample

Nowadays, grown up children are usually busy with works or personal life and tons of reasons that they might not have the time for taking care of their parents. Thus, the only solution for them is to send their parents to old folk homes leads to the increase of number to admission of elderly to old folk homes. The table shows the numbers of people aged 60 and above placed in old folks homes from the year 2006 to 2010. Based on the table, in year 2006, there are total 320 males and females amounting 220 and 100 people respectively.

In year 2007, the number went down to 265 in total of males and females, 170 and 95 respectively. The number went up back in year 2008 with total 330 in total of males and females, 220 and 110 respectively. Since then, the number when up all the way in year 2009 with 250 males and 110 females leads to total 360 people while in year 2010, total of 375 people of 105 males and 270 females. Some of the reasons for admission of the elderly into old folks homes are due to financial problems, relationship problems, poor health of the elderly, overcrowded living conditions and lack of privacy.

One of the reasons for the number of admission of the elderly into old folks homes increased could be due to financial problems; there are a lot of expenses needed to be spent on elderly such as daily needs, diapers, medicine or supplements and more. Poor conditioned family could not afford to purchase all expensive necessity, therefore, the elderly will be send to old folks homes which providing all these. Next, it could be due to relationships problem between the elderly and their children or relatives. Argument in family relationship happens sometime.

It might cause by misunderstanding, hatred, vengeance or such. That is why maybe the elderly wanted to isolate themselves by moving into old folks homes. Besides that, it could be because of the poor health condition of the elderly. It is either they might not want to trouble their children taking care of them or their children have no time to take care of the elderly. It is good thing, in the case if the elderly were placed in old folks homes especially if there is no guidance at home, it will be much more safer nvironment.

Last but not least, it could be due to overcrowded living conditions and lack of privacy. Family members does grow from time to time, or sometimes there are couple of children who needed some space of their own. That causes them to place the elderly in old folks homes as well. In my conclusion, there are many reasons to the admission of old folk’s homes. Either from the elderly or the children party, both having their own reasons to the admission of old folk’s homes.
