“THE ROLE OF POPULATION DEPARTMENT IN THE CONTROL OF POPULATION IN DISTRICT BUNER” I selected this topic for research, because over population is a social problem, which affects the whole society. Pakistan is the hit list of this problem. The world developed country like China, Japan and so on, which can’t succeed to control this current problem. Introduction of population:

Population, term referring to the total human inhabitants of a specified area, such as a city, country, or continent, at a given time. Population study as a discipline is known as demography. It is concerned with the size, composition, and distribution of populations. Their patterns of change over time through births, deaths, and migration; and the determinants and consequences of such changes.

There are many causes of over population, because the population of Pakistan is increasing day by day due to the following causes. High birth rate of Pakistan is higher than the rest of the world developed nation. and stands on 7TH populous country of the world. There are so many reasons of this higher birth rate in Pakistan. i.e. Desire of male child, Remarriage of widow, polygamy and so on. Death control is one of the reason of over population is higher life expectancy due to modern medicines and health care, which control the death rate and a person survive/ stay in society for longer period of time. Objectives:

• To know about the hurdles in the way of effective role of population department for the control of population in District Buner. • To know the role of population department for the control of population in District Buner. • To know that how the community itself is a hurdle in the implementation of policies of the population department.

Universe:
This field work was conducted in District Buner.
The data was gathered from different villages of District Buner including Chenglai, Bajkta, Chagharzo, Bagra, Pirbaba, Nawagai, Dewana Baba and so on.

Sample Size:
In this field work, I selected 50 respondents. This was difficult for me to fill the questionnaire from all the staff members, because every sub department has maximum 14 staff members. So for that purpose I selected the stratified random sample. I selected 7 respondents from every sub department. Tools of data collection:

A comprehensive questionnaire was prepared in the light of objectives of the study. All the data was collected from the respondents through that tool. Duration:
This field work is conducted in 10 days.

Data analysis:
After passing from all the research process, the collected data was arranged and put into tables. Then the data was analyzed and major findings were drawn. Total 50 respondents were selected, in which 30 male respondents and 20 female respondents. The first objective of my field work explained that main hurdles faced by the population department were the threats of the community, lack of concern tools and lack of cooperation and coordination on behalf of the people. The second objective of my field work explained that the role of population department was satisfactory. They arranged family planning programs and also they provided medicine to the people and they informed the people regarding the negative impact of over population. Due to the medicine which they provided to the people, decrease the death rate of women during pregnancy. The third objective of my field work explained that the religious people did not participate in the family planning programs in the community and they did not permit the activities of the population department in the community. So this reason community is itself hurdle in the implementation of policies of the population department.

Problems:
I have faced three types of problems during data collection. The present military operation against the militant in District Buner, in that reason fear of militant in the heart of my respondents because population department was the hit list of the militant. And the second problem which I faced as the transport facilities because District Buner is the hilly area and the transport is limited, due to those I can not reached my targeted area easily. Another problem which I faced during data collection was the absence of the respondents of department, because of curfew. For which I went several times to these areas.
