The main reasons are to ensure that adherence to laws and regulations in support of international principles for ongoing day-to-day operations. Data-Driven Decision-Making

Describe the purpose of each technique chosen?
The purpose of data-driven decision making involves the collection, combining and crunching of data received from multiple sources throughout the organization. The technique can contribute to the improvement of the decision making process as a whole. How does or should this help operations?

Acme gathers data from their customers, suppliers, partners, and competitors. Retailers such as Acme use the collection of data from the aforementioned sources to make changes to its day-to-day operations management processes. For example, ACME utilizes Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags to communicate information about its inventory to ACME buyers and suppliers. The solicited data allows everyone in the management chain to create new business ideas based on scientifically valid data. Getting the information needed to the people who need it is critical. What are the limitations of the technique?

The inputs of information injected into the decision making process can potentially help or hurt the outcome of the decision made if the information is flawed or skewed. Improper analyzed or interpreted data can lead the decision maker to the wrong conclusions or make decisions that are based on bias rather than facts; garbage in, garbage out. What are the costs involved? What training is needed to use the technique? What else is needed? The costs associated with data-driven decision-making can fluctuate from a small minimum to a huge maximum; it depends on the value of information in the data. Operations management should work closely with their executives to identify:

What learning strengths and weaknesses are evident in the data? Which groups or subgroups of workers are having difficulty learning? What professional development is needed to improve employee’s learning? What materials and equipment are needed to support changes in operational processes? At Acme What is the Problem, Opportunity, or Challenge to be Addressed? Considering that this is the first international expansion the Acme is undertaking, the likelihood of problems, opportunity, and challenges are possible. Several factors exists that may increase the chance for Acme to incur issues. The data-driven decision making process helps to frame the problems that may affect completing the project within the prescribed time, the allocated budget, and the scope.

Acme gathers data from their customers, suppliers, partners, and competitors; therefore, Acme does not have total control over problems, alternatives, outcomes, possibilities, or payoff How Will Data-Driven Decision Making Help Acme Mexico City’s Operations? Why? Acme can show a higher performance by making use of detailed survey data about the business day-to-day functions, the ability to collect, integrate, and analyze data from all Acme locations allows the organization to conduct real-world experiments (Brown Chui, Manyika, 2011). The data can also link Acme’s information to its supplier’s database. This link will allow Acme to reorder hot selling items to its various locations. Data-driven decision making affords Acme the ability to track customers’ behavior at the click of a button. What would be the areas which present challenges in the approach?

Data-driven decision making requires that timely decisions are analyzed and decided made based on the information collected. This may present a challenge based on the culture of Acme Mexico employees because decision making follows an authoritarian structure. Employees at the operational level will require the input and approval of senior executives. If the senior executives are taking their time to reach a decision, it may be an opportunity lost or a costly oversight. Sustainable Supply Chain Management

The Purpose of Sustainable Supply Chain Management?
Organizations that are committed to the sustainable supply chain management seek to align its day-to-day operations and leadership initiatives strategies with its main beliefs. Nevertheless, supply chain involves nonstop changing markets and relationships. There are many reasons why organizations began on the path of supply chain sustainability. The main reasons are to ensure that adherence to laws and regulations in support of international principles for ongoing day-to-day operations. How does or should this help operations?

The sustainable supply chain management carries out research that relates to the sustainability in international and domestic supply chains; this will be an essential asset for Acme in Mexico City. The technique can help to identify access and add to the standards operating procedures conducted. The technique can help Acme to create, defend and grow long-term environmental, social, and economic value for all stakeholders involved in bringing products and services to the international market (Sustainable Supply Chain Foundation, 2013). What are the Limitations of the Technique?

Supply chain sustainability is growing in recognition as a main component of corporate responsibility. Managing the environmental and social impacts of supply chains, and fighting corruption, is good business practice as the right thing to do. Consumers are concerned about being socially responsible. Acme highly relies on ordering products from external sources. Acme’s responsibility no longer stops at the warehouse doors. Acme is limited by the operations involved in its manufactured goods inventory to protect against damage control. What are the costs involved? What training is needed to use the technique? What else is needed? Acme will incur some monetary cost for installation software that helps build a tool that is user friendly to managing the sustainability supply chain management. Another consideration is the cost of training. Depending how many Acme employees require training on the sustainable supply chain system. Acme can select to have an external source to travel to its various locations to train personnel. Another option is to have employees attend offsite training. Even though travel cost and perdiem will factor into the first option, I believe it is most cost effective. At Acme Mexico City, What is the Problem, Opportunity, or Challenge to be addressed?

Acme Mexico City faces the problem of entering into a business relationship that is not corrupt. In spite of the fact that some of the manufactures in Acme’s supply chain will extend from the United States, Acme Mexico City must rely heavily on local resources too. In contrast to the aforementioned, Acme Mexico City has the opportunity to build solid business relationships with its suppliers; the reputation of Acme Mexico City can spread fast and far if they are not acting in an ethical manner and good business practice. How Will the Technique help Acme Mexico City’s Operations?

For Acme to remain competitive in an international market they must provide superior good at the most economical cost possible. There are many costs involved in supply change management; it is the responsibility of management to ensure those cost are carefully considered are not passed on to the customer. How Will Sustainable Supply Chain Management Help Acme Mexico City?

Sustainable supply chain management necessitates that Acme identifies those processes that add cost to the organization’s budget but doesn’t create value of the product. Processes that do not add value to the final product are wasteful; they must be eliminated at the earliest possible opportunity. What Would be the Areas Which Present Challenges in the approach?

The areas that would present challenges in sustainable supply chain management would be cost, culture and management commitment. Acme must employ information’s system company that is bi-lingual. The fact that most of the employees at Acme would speak Spanish; some of the American workers stationed in Mexico may not. This may increase cost if the trainers must train two audiences. This problem requires a strong muscle from upper chain management to stay committed and make sure the training occurs. Linear Programming

What is the recommended low-cost customer service daily assignment schedule? What are your underlying assumptions and any qualitative factors that you believe are involved? How might non-typical days affect the schedule?
