Introduction of TOPIC
Eccleshill United are a current football club that are looking for a totally new system to help run the club. These are a few problems to overcome.
I will be given the task to create a data handling system to show details of the entire employee’s of the club. This will tell me their address and if they have any other jobs. It will also tell me how much they’re paid each week. They should also work out the tax that needs to be paid and the National Insurance. This will also be able to produce payslips that will be paid to staff.
Finance/Ticket prices records
To overcome this problem I will have to create another data handling system. This will show the average incomes and out outgoings of the club on a regular basis. Mainly this will work out how much we need to charge for a ticket in order to make a profit. This will also show information about the sponsor and the kit supplier of the club.
To publicise the club I will be making a web-site. This will give out information and advertise the club. This will give access to fans all over the world and can find out up-to-date info about the club and will increase the fan base. It will tell fans about the players, the upcoming fixtures and results and up-to-date club news. I will also be creating posters to stick up around the local area to help build our fan base and bring the local children to training courses.
Kit and logo design
I will be given the task to design a new club logo and a new football kit. This is to mark the new era of the club and will consist of the blue and white traditional colours.
Possible ways of solving the problems
For the two data handling systems I will either use a paper-based system or IT. For the publicity I will use a DTP or paper-based system for the posters and either a WYSIWYG, HTML document or a DTP for the web-site. I could use paper-based for the web-site as it will look exactly how I like it and it will save time sizing and cropping items. To create the logo and kit I will use a paper-based system or use IT and use a CAD program. IT will allow me to add any colour, change the size, crop and add other objects, there as the paper based would allow me to make it exactly the way I want as it would be free hand.
Systems I will choose
For the data handling systems I will use a computer as you can do a lot more with ICT than you can do with a paper-based system. With ICT you can change the document all the time and resize, colour, stretch and do a lot more. If I used a paper-b
ased system for the data handling systems I would not be able to create formula’s and have the
For the web-site I will choose a WYSIWYG application as it is What You See Is What You Get. These are easy to drag and drop things and it is easy to add logos. These applications are designed to make web-sites and they do not produce many errors. The other two can create errors as HTML is computer language and is hard to create and DTP’s are not really designed for these tasks and they can lead to errors when converting to HTML.
When I am creating the logo and kit I will use ICT. I will use a Vector graphics application to create the kit and logo. This sort of an application is designed to create big graphic files and they are easy to change things. It would be easier to use ICT than normal paper based as it is hard to change things and I would have to draw things all the time. For the poster I will use a DTP as they are simple and easy to use. They allow me to insert an object, background and shape which would be harder if I was using a paper-based system.
Which parts are reusable?
The two data handling systems and the publicity will be reusable as when a new player comes into the squad the system will change and the web-site will be updated. When money is taken in and out of the club the finance records will change. The data will be updated all the time and it will be also searched and explored regularly.
What links are there to other tasks?
The website, posters, data handling systems and the kit must all carry the football club’s logo. The web-site will be linked with the employer system so fan’s can access the player and staff information. The data taken from this system will be the staff detail section. There will also be a link to the ticket system on the web-site and on some poster’s telling fan’s how much the tickets are. It will also be linked to the kit design task as it will show a picture of the kit.
What data will you need to input?
I will need a list of all the employee’s, details. The fields used will be name, address, DOB, employee number, job description, other jobs, hourly rate, hours worked, position, sponsor, fines, bonuses, total wage, tax, national insurance, and net wage. For the payslips I will need there name, salary, deductions, Ni, Tax and the logo.
For the players info on the web-site I will need their height, squad number and their previous clubs. History of the club will also need to be added to the web-site and the fixtures/results and tables. Standard ticket prices will need to be added to the ticket price system and all the things that have been sold. E.G programmes, replica shirts etc. I will use about 5 main pages, with some more with player info depending on how many players will be at the club. The player pages will consist of all their details, previous clubs, height, squad number, stats, age etc. The 1st page will have the latest news; the 2nd will have fixtures, results and the table. It will also list the upcoming events. The 3rd page will have ticket and away travel information on, and the 5th will have a list of all the player’s and staff with hyperlinks to all the player’s own page. All the page’s will consist of hyperlinks to each page.
The finance system will need all the wages on it. I will need ticket prices, and prices for other data items sold at the club shop. This will also include national insurance and tax. It will have a total income price and a net profit column. The logo will need to be put onto the kit, stadium and all other systems and documents. The club sponsor will need to be added to the finance records and the kit.
The logo will need the name of the club and the date the club started. The kit will need the logo, name and number and the sponsor logo and the kit supplier logo.
