Writing an essay can be very difficult or very easy. Everything depends on whether you know how to structure your paper and understand the main tips of writing. Although there are lots of essay types which you can get for homework, the main steps which a writer should take are almost the same. If writing has been your weak side, this article will help you cope with this task quickly and with pleasure. Knowing significant tips, you will see that writing can be exciting.

Each paper should consist of three main parts: introduction, main body, conclusion. The first and the final elements are more or less the same in length. They should take only one paragraph if it is an ordinary article and not a research paper. The main body is the core of your composition. It is where the main content of your work should be included. Sometimes students can easily write a beginning and a conclusion. However, when it comes to the main body, it seems that you don’t comprehend what to include there. If you have ever experienced this situation, we will reveal you a secret. Preparing the body paragraphs can be a piece of cake if you structure it well.

How to Write A Body Paragraph Of Essay

There are various techniques and methodologies which can help you structure your work. But before we get to them, let’s figure out the function of the main body. It is used to explain the key message and idea of your essay. While the introduction is used to show readers what you are going to prove, in the central part of the essay you prove your idea. It is where all the examples, explanations, clarifications are included.

There is one useful technique which is known as PEEL, and it will help you make the structure of the main body thought-out. The abbreviation stands for four main parts of the paragraph. Prepare each of them according to it, and there won’t be any problems with the content. Look at the following explanation of each letter. Try to answer the questions for each part, and you will see how clear your idea becomes.

P —  Point. What are you going to write about in this section?

E — Evidence. What proves your point? Can you think of any examples?

E — Explanation. Why is your evidence significant to prove the point? What do they mean, signify?

L — Link. What does this section make you think of next? Which other logical assumptions spring up to your mind?

Structure each paragraph according to PEEL method. It will help you focus on one specific idea. Moreover, your reader won’t lose the main idea because you will always return to it during the explanation. Thanks to PEEL structuring your essay becomes logical and well thought-out.

Tips for Writing the Body Paragraph

The main body starts from the thesis statement. Break it into several key ideas, and devote each separate thought to the specific paragraph. This will help you focus on one idea and develop it into the clear examples.

  1. Prepare an outline. Each paragraph should be thought-out because it should convey the specific idea. Choose the examples, add notes next to each section.
  2. Start with topic sentences. The beginning of each paragraph should be its overall idea. A reader should understand what you are going to tell in this section.
  3. Narrow down each following sentence. You may begin with the general thought, but then specify it with examples.
  4. Connect the end of one paragraph and the beginning of another. Use transitional words and phrases to make your paper coherent.
  5. Choose relevant examples. Depending on the topic, select those examples which will be either from your experience or world-known situations.
  6. Prove your statements with quotes. Use credible source to find interesting thoughts. You can quote somebody’s words and then explain them. It will show that your essay is based on thorough research.
  7. Don’t end with the quotation. All the information that you cite should be specified. You need to explain how this saying is relevant to your essay. Even if the idea is clear, you need to show that it is your paper, and you rely only on your reasoning.
  8. Make your paragraph approximately the same in size. It doesn’t mean that you have to count words, but at least the sections should have the visual effect of equal volume.
  9. Don’t use long sentences. There is no need to make complex sentences with lots of subordinate clauses. Learn how to stop when the sentence becomes too long. It will be more understandable for readers to perceive your central message.

Body Paragraph Example

Here is the example of the part of the main body. This excerpt is taken from the essay about the positive impact of social networks on the youth. The following section is made according to the PEEL method, so you can follow the ideas which are explained above in this article.

“Social networks help the young to find creative means of expressing personality. Looking at the online profiles of teenagers you can easily determine their interests, talents, preferences. It is where men and women can show everyone their talents. For example, a popular social network Smule allows people from different countries sing in karaoke with popular singers. Some people post those videos on Facebook or Instagram, and their followers find out about their friends’ talents. Before the appearance of social networks, it was difficult to become a popular singer without a producer. However, now you can become famous by getting lots of “likes” on YouTube. Social networks serve as an ideal platform for showing who you are and which talents you have.”

Now when you get a better insight of how to write the main body, preparing an essay shouldn’t sound that scary. You should bear in mind that writing can be easy if you practice a lot. Ask for teacher’s feedbacks to understand your strong and weak sides. If you learn how to structure everything properly, writing any articles will be as easy as one two three.
