An Act of Kindness

What is an Act of Kindness? An act of kindness is a spontaneous gesture of goodwill towards someone or something. Kind words and deeds come from a state of benevolence, generated by a core response deep within all of us. When we carry out an act of kindness it is a message from one heart to another, an act of love, an unspoken “I care” statement.

A recent Act of Kindness I have performed would be for my parents. My mom is a stay home mom but I see her work so hard everyday to keep the house clean, and keep nice meals made. My dad has a fulltime job working 5:30-6, so when he comes home he is super tired. I have taken it upon myself for the past week to do all household chores. I have done all the laundry, which I didn’t realize was so hard. You have to separate the lights from the dark and have cold water with light clothes and hot water with dark clothes. But I tend to get them seriously confused. I have washed all the dishes by HAND. Our dish washer broke a couple of months ago. I have vacuumed and dusted every room in the house! I have swept and mopped the kitchen. I never realized how much work my mom has put into the house before now, and she’s been doing this for over 24 years. I have learned a few things about cooking as well this past week. I have learned to make lasagna, dumplings, and parmesan chicken. My father loves to eat. He expects a meal to be on the table for him when he comes home. I always have to make extra because he is quite hungry, all the time.
