Introduction of TOPIC

Franklin D. Roosevelt, our 32nd president, was considered to be on of the best presidents because he saved America from disaster. He came into office after President Hoover with a big mess on his desk which was the great depression. Roosevelt promised Americans a New Deal which would help them come out of the great depression and turn America around. Roosevelt is considered a hero for three main things he did. He never forgot the forgotten man, he created the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), Federal Housing Administration (FHA), The Social Security Administration (SSA), and he saved the country from disaster.

Franklin D. Roosevelt handled the forgotten man by giving us many opportunities to work. The forgotten man was a man who was poor and who needed the money but were not getting. During the great depression most Americans had no job and no place to live. Many men left there families and the city and went city hopping to find jobs and no one was taking them. The unemployment rate rose up to 25%. Roosevelt came up with the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) which put young men aged 18 to 25 to work building roads, developing parks, planting trees, and helping in soil erosion and flood control projects. Roosevelt established the Civil Works Administration which provided 4 million immediate jobs in the winter. In the end of all of these employment pro

man was no longer forgotten.

FDR established 3 main administrations that helped Americans and that we still use today. The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) protected bank deposits up to 5,000. The FDIC helped regulate investment activities by having check ups on the bank to make sure they were not losing any money. So the FDIC watched people’s money and made sure they would not lose it if another depression hit. The Federal Housing Administration (FHA) insured loans for building and repairing homes. This helped families who had homes that were damaged would get loans from the bank and have people come repair their homes. The social security Administration (SSA) provided a pension for retired workers and their spouses and aided people with disabilities. The SSA was the biggest think Roosevelt established because it helped everyone who was working or people who were disabled. It gave money to people who use to work but now are retired or are just disabled. Although the New Deal did not end the Great Depression, it did help reduce the suffering of thousands of men.

President Roosevelt saved the country from disaster. If president Hoover was elected again he would have let it fix itself and it was not going to. Roosevelt came up with the New Deal that saved the country and the plan was just to bring America back to its feet. What Roosevelt’s plan was to help the unemployed and not forget the forgotten man. He gave many men opportunities to work and make money for the family. The New Deal programs helped with employment projects, business, farmers, housing, and labor relations. These deals helped many people get back on their feet after struggling for so many years. Roosevelt was a hero to the people of America and the American country.

Although President Roosevelt did not end the Great depression it gave people a sense of dignity. People were able to work and provide money for their families and themselves. President Roosevelt is a hero to many America because he was the man who got America back on the right track. He helped many Americans by giving them an opportunity to work which gave them a sign of hope. Roosevelt saved America with his New Deal.

Nelson Mandela’s Inaugural Speech

Nelson Mandela was inaugurated on May 10th, 1994 and with his inauguration, he prepared a very well thought out speech to thank those who were there and those who voted for him. After being in prison for 27 years he was released from prison in 1990 by President F.W. de Klerk and they started to negotiate the end of apartheid. Mandela used modes of appeal very carefully throughout the speech to connect with the South African people, encouraged them to come together as one nation and become more credible to the white population of South Africa. Mandela most definitely knew the audience he was talking to the day of his inauguration. The inauguration was an internationally televised speech that the whole world was interested in. Mandela was the first black president in South Africa and was very well liked around the whole world. He knew exactly that there would be...

The Rise of George Washington

George Washington, the first president of the United States, had to overcome challenges and obstacles before he became president and it began at the battle of Trenton. This battle was the beginning of many successes and there was only one main reason- grit. Grit is a very important reason why George Washington was successful in the battle at Trenton. Although the war was a success, Washington did not have a perfect beginning. It was perfectly visualised on the 1999 movie “The Crossing” as it showed that Washington was at a low point in the war for independence. New York was attacked and Washington’s men were forced to cross the Delaware River and to go to Pennsylvania. When crossing, they were split into three groups and only Washington’s group arrived at the destination. What was worse was that a lot of his men had a week or so until they were...

The speech given by President Kennedy

The speech given by President John F. Kennedy to the media and the American people was a very bold and even condemning speech. The intended purpose of this speech was to persuade the steel companies into rethinking their decision in spiking the prices of their product. JFK successfully got his point across and created such a statement that was hard for the steel companies to argue with. In the following paragraphs, certain elements used in this speech such as diction choice, possible outcomes/consequences, and even creating a connection with his audience will reveal that JFK effectively convinced Americans that this was a real issue that needed to be dealt with or there would have been severe consequences In JFK’s speech he used a very strong diction set that created the tone for the rest of the text. The opening paragraph goes on to say that the actions of the steel...
