Homeostatic Imbalances Essay Sample

The homeostatic imbalance that causes hypertension is a possible reaction to medication, or obesity and lack of exercise Other things that should be considered is whether the patient is drinking and smoking. Internal and external stresses can also affect homeostasis, which can also cause hypertension. The organ system it involves is the cardiovascular system. The cardiovascular system is the organ system surrounding the heart, blood, and blood vessels.

One of the most important things that help with homeostasis when dealing with hypertension is the negative feedback system. The system works to maintain a constant balance. If there is an issue in the body’s homeostasis, the body reacts with the negative feedback loop to try to correct whatever the imbalance or issue is. If you do not maintain homeostatic balance in the cardiovascular system, you are at risk for having strokes, and heart attacks. It also can affect the eyes, kidneys, and brain. It is important for this patient to receive counseling on his lifestyle. Certain medications can be helpful along with a healthy diet and exercise .( anti-essays, 2014)

13 Year Old Diabetic
The homeostatic imbalance that causes diabetes is because the body doesn’t produce enough, or produces too much insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is excreted by the pancreas to maintain homeostasis after ingestion of any sugars. The body turns all of our foods into different types of sugars. The pancreas sends out enough insulin to maintain proper sugar levels in the body’s blood supply to keep a person healthy. The Endocrine System is the organ system that is affected by diabetes. The endocrine system consists of several hormone producing glands like the hypothalamus, pituitary gland,
thymus, thyroid , pancreas, and ovaries. Sadly, with diabetes, a state of homeostasis is never fully achieved.

When the body cannot maintain a state of homeostasis, it affects not only an individual’s health but how he feels. As long as the individual keeps to a diabetic friendly diet including synthetic insulin and exercise routine that person can live successfully without complications. This patient, and their family should receive counseling to learn about the lifestyle changes that need to occur to ensure a healthy life. If the demands of this disease aren’t met, it can lead to many health issues including, kidney disease, ketoacidosis, amputation of limbs, coma, and even death. It is important to stress these possibilities with the patient and their family.
