Introduction of TOPIC

Every aspect of Truman Burbanks Life is filmed, when he eats, drinks and when he sleeps. I came away from The Truman Show feeling inspired (and slightly paranoid) which is the goal of good filmmaking. Jim Carrey was outstanding as Truman Burbank, underplaying him, not making him too comic or too dramatic, but giving true sincerity when asked. I was amazed at what a serious character Jim Carrey can play, he is just so talented and I wouldn’t want to change the film in anyway, form or fashion. Truman Burbank is married to Meryl Burbank (Linney) who works “night shifts” at the hospital although this is just an excuse to go home to her real family.Truman is watched everyday by millions of people who just don’t want to miss anything that happens, even elderly Truman loving ladies and a man who got a TV installed into his bathroom so he could watch The Truman show in the bath. But when things start happening out of the ordinary Truman gets suspicous and starts to investigate.

My favourite part in the film is at the end because Truman has found

that he can finally travel if he just walks through the door into a real world. It’s clever the way “Seahaven” is made to look real just for one person and that it’s televised for the public to view at any time during the day. I like the end also because it means that he can see the lovely Natascha McElhorne who tried to tell Truman the truth but was taken off the show before she could.

Laura Linney is magnificent as the camera hungry wife. She plays Meryl Burbank’s role as advertiser and budding star to a point. Peter wier doesn’t make all the cast perfect which leads to faults which then in turn leads to Truman’s escape.

Ed harris gives us one of the best performances yet as he gives us a very god like appearance when he speaks to Truman for the last time because he is speaking out of the sun, which makes him look like god.

Christof is a very keen to keep Truman in “seahaven” to keep hs show running but when Truman finds his way out there is nothing he can do to stop him.

The way that they involve everything without having to use any people that are part of the production team, is a very clever way of keeping him on the island. I would recommend this film to anyone and its one I would watch over and over again because Jim Carrey expanded his acting abilities and made such a serious character. The scariest thing is that “Big Brother” is becoming a big part of people’s lives and mabye it won’t be too long before The truman show is real?

12 Angry Men Reviews

12 Angry Men depicts how a jury of twelve men must examine the evidence presented at the trial of a young boy accused of murdering his father. The evidence brought forth in the trial is the testimony of an old man who lives in the apartment about the boy ‚™s, a switchblade knife, the boy ‚™s sketchy alibi, and the eyewitness testimony of a woman who lives across from the boy ‚™s apartment building. With the evidence making the boy appear guilty, a single juror questions the accuracy of the evidence and tries to implant reasonable doubt within the other jurors. The testimony of the old man that lives in the apartment about the boy ‚™s seems to be believable. The old man testified that he had heard what sounded like a fight coming from the boy ‚™s apartment and heard the boy tell his father that he was going...

The Movie Twelve Angry Men

The Movie "Twelve Angry Men" is the ultimate example of a group of people forced to interact in order to reach a single, defined goal. The jury, which consists of 12 men, must deliberate until a unanimous decision is reached. In this specific example, which takes place in a New York courthouse, the decision holds the life of an 18 year old in the balance. The movie is presented in a manner that allows the viewer to be the invisible jury member and sit in as they deliberate the fate of the defendant. The first vote is 11 to 1, finding the defendant guilty. The 12 men ride a rollercoaster of emotions as it finally ends in a unanimous decision. Throughout the paper I will analyze and elaborate on relationships and personalities that arise throughout the groups interactions. The report will follow the group as each person is forced to...

The Greek Heros in film Percy Jackson

I will be comparing the Greek Heros, with the 2010 film Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, directed by Chris columbus. Heroes take arduous journeys, confront Mythical creatures, discover lost treasure, and change the nature of the world with their acts of courage and selflessness. They are legendary figures, endowed with great strength and ability, who dare to heed the call of adventure. These heroes endure much opposition, hardship, and danger to transcend the average man. Ultimately, the hero emerges as an invincible warrior who, by asserting his will, changes the world. Now let’s look at the story of the great warrior Achilles. To the Greeks he was a role model of the greatest hero. Achilles was the main character and hero of the Trojan War in Homer's, the greatest Greek epic poets, Iliad. Achilles was a son of a King Myrmidons and the nymph Thetis. With being a Demigod, he...
